Woodland

Quarry and Bisham Woods to the west of the parish offer great potential for wildlife, plants and fungi. Much of this area is owned by the Woodland Trust. We support their activities in maintaining these woodlands and ensuring that they offer the best possible environment for relevant wildlife.

We have a team of volunteers who survey our old mature trees. This includes those that meet the criteria for ‘veteran’ or ‘ancient’ trees as well as those that are notable in some other way. You can search those we have recorded on the Ancient Tree Inventory.

Our woodlands are also rich in fungi. Each autumn we arrange guided walks to identify what is about.  We also do woodland walks in the spring for bluebells.

Check the information on our Contact Us page to find out how you can go on these walks.
